Chinchillas have such dense fur that they cannot get wet, as it wouldn't be able to dry properly therefore making the chinchilla with all sorts of problems. Therefore, regular sand/dust baths are an absolute necessity for chinchillas. Taking a vigorous sand/dust bath is part of what they do in the wild and a very natural behavior. That is how chinchillas keep their lush coats shiny, clean and healthy.
Our chinchilla bath sand consists of at least 33% Diatomaceous Earth to help fight any fungal or bacterial issues on the skin, it is also infused with pure peppermint essential oil to provide a minty scent as well as providing a cooling sensation. In aromatherapy, peppermint oil is believed to invigorate the mind, improve the mood and relieve tension or anxiety.
Composition:Mineral Sand 66.6%; Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth 33.3%; 100% Pure Peppermint Essential Oil <1%
Directions for use:

Pour about 1.5cm - 2cm of the bath sand into your Chinchilla sand bath or house, or any bathing container.
Place your bathing container into your Chinchilla's cage, then watch him or her sniff, dig, roll, and enjoying its luxurious bath. You'll immediately see the results as they bath!!
Remove the bath from the cage or empty the bath sand after 10-15min (or whenever your Chinchilla finishes bathing) to avoid the sand becoming soiled.
